Performance, Workshops and Consultancy

Lawrence has been performing as a baritone soloist in leading venues for over a quarter of a century. He also has extensive experience as a workshop leader for all ages and as a consultant to organisations including the ABRSM and the University of Sheffield.

Lawrence’s performances as a professional baritone complement his work as a teacher and consultant. In recent years he has sung the solos in oratorio and concert performances across the UK including at Arundel Cathedral, with works including Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Stainer’s Crucifixion and Haydn’s The Creation. A former member of Ex Cathedra, he has sung at the Three Choirs Festivals and on BBC Radio 3. He is available to work with choral societies in London and the home counties, as well as in the Yorkshire and Lancashire areas. A list of his repertoire as a baritone or bass soloist can be read here.

Lawrence is also known for his work advising on productions and leading workshops for all ages. In recent years he has coached the Young Artists of America in Washington DC, worked with the cast of Julie Andrews’ production of My Fair Lady in a special performance at the Sydney Opera House, and led residential courses at Benslow Music Trust.

He has appeared as a teacher on BBC Radio and been the subject of a feature article in Music Teacher magazine, for whom he was also a reviewer.

He also acted as an advisor to the ABRSM on the introduction of a new musical theatre syllabus and offered health and technical guidance as an advisor to the University of Sheffield’s musical theatre concert series. If you have a project you’d like to collaborate on, he would be pleased to hear from you.
